Robert Eagle Bio
Robert Eagle is a researcher specializing in cultural industries with a focus on ethnographic methods, boasting 18 years of experience in research, interactive art practice, and documentary film-making. Holding a PhD in Digital Art, Media & Design from UWE Bristol (2022), an MA in Visual Anthropology from the University of Manchester (2007), and a BA in Social Anthropology and Russian from the University of St Andrews (2006), he currently serves as Research Fellow in Cultural Value at the University of Leeds (since 2024), following roles as Teaching Fellow at Leeds (2023-2024), researcher at AKO Storytelling Institute (UAL, 2023-2024), and postdoctoral fellow at the British Film Institute and XR Stories (2022-2023). His publications include peer-reviewed articles on augmented reality, digital ethnography, and immersive media, such as "Through the Wardrobe" (PhD thesis, 2022) and contributions to journals like Anthropological Quarterly and Performance Research, alongside industry reports and a forthcoming chapter in 2026. Eagle's art practice features interactive installations like "The Veldt" (2020-ongoing) and "Through the Wardrobe" (2019-2022), exhibited internationally and nominated for awards at festivals including Sheffield Doc/Fest and IDFA. He has presented at conferences worldwide, held fellowships like the New Scholars Fellow at Bristol+Bath Creative R+D (2021-2022), and previously worked as a multimedia producer at UCL (2009-2017) and in TV productions (2007-2009), with memberships in ICOM and the European Association of Social Anthropologists.
