WG3 Theoretical questions

Topic

Theoretical Questions

WG3 subgroup 1: Decolonizing urban interventions
Subgroup leader: Dr. Marta Padovan-Özdemir, Associate professor, Roskilde University, Denmark
The subgroup 1 works with three guiding theoretical questions:
• How can postcolonial and decolonial thinking help re-theorize, re-see and re-purpose urban intervention and habitation design?
• What modes of knowing, doing and being in urban spaces and places can be theoretized by means of decolonial thinking?
• How does a theoretical decolonial framework for urban intervention and habitation design avoid the pitfalls of both theoretical policing and socio-cultural exploitation?

WG3 subgroup 2: Intermittent practices / Temporary Uses / Tactical Urbanism
Subgroup leader: Dr. Eng. Arch. Agata Pięt, Assistant professor, University of Applied Sciences in Nysa, Poland
The subgroup 2 works with four guiding theoretical questions:
• How do temporary and intermittent urban installations transform the production, use, and governance of public space?
• How can flexibility, circularity, and participatory practices be embedded in temporary urban interventions while remaining adaptable to different urban contexts?
• What social, cultural, and spatial effects do temporary gathering points generate, particularly in relation to inclusion, participation, and community formation?
• How can insights from temporary and tactical urban practices be translated into sustainable urban regeneration frameworks and public policy instruments?

WG3 subgroup 3: Diversity and Inclusion through Art, Activism, and Socially Engaged Practices
Subgroup leader: Dr. Isabel Cristina Carvalho, Assistant Researcher, Research Center for Arts and Communication (CIAC-UAb), Universidade Aberta, Portugal
The subgroup 3 works with three guiding theoretical questions:
• How can artistic co-creation methodologies integrate indigenous knowledge and ancestral circular practices with digital practices foster inclusive and regenerative urban spaces?
• How do collaborative artivist practices in urban contexts promote critical and creative pedagogies, and how can these methodologies improve sustainable learning and participatory democracy?
• How can digital art and participatory urban installations foster the transition to socially circular economies?
