Presentations' Station#1 — WG 06 "Connecting Natures in the Urban Context”–"

Working Group 6 focuses on interconnections, dissemination, and recommendations coming from the collective work of the Circul’arts COST action. Dissemination can take many forms from writing, speaking, workshops, art displays, and plain-language communications. To do this, the working group takes a systems thinking approach to the diverse content, research, art, and practice embedded within Circul’arts and in the first year the ground work was laid for this process to take place. This Working Group seeks facilitate the Action’s ability to develop tangible recommendations based on experience from practice and research for a range of stakeholders, based on the various types of knowledge transfer: from academics to citizens, from artists to communities, from citizens and artists. For this 1st station the presentations were focused on building the foundation within the Action for interconnection between working groups and translating research to wider audiences with future concrete recommendations.

Dissemination and Impact: Circular Economy, Arts, Education Futures, & Systems Thinking

This presentation outlines the work done by Work Group 6 in year one of the cost action and the plan forward. WG6 represents a wide range of disciplines, including critical pedagogies, urban art, socio-ecological systems, regenerative design, and urban transformation. The working group seeks to take a systems perspective, bridging the different aspects of these fields to cultivate a holistic approach to learning, art, research, and urban regeneration. By leveraging the diverse expertise, interconnections, and experiences of its members, the group aims to explore what pathways this COST action can take with Dissemination, Impact, and leading to concrete recommendations.

Frameworks Co-Creation and Participatory Workshops as Dissemination

The pre-recorded presentation introduced a participatory framework for co-creating plain-language pedagogical tools that integrate multilingual, student-led knowledge into critical action for sustainable, inclusive education. Drawing on arts-based workshops and digital storytelling, this approach aligns with WG6’s goals of outreach, policy impact, and accessible dissemination. Format: short talk with visual tools and workshop examples.

Focus on Plan of Action for Communicating with the Public

This presentation focused on creating accessible inclusive ways of disseminating information and used the case example of engaging the public is foundational to the success of this COST ACTION. A case study on translating information about green and sustainable building to diverse audience and bridging political and polarized divides.

Training Framework for Dissemination Workshops Regarding Urban Design and Circular Cities

The presentation outlined a training framework for dissemination workshops regarding urban design and circular cities. This framework included sample activities rooted in critical pedagogies that can facilitate community-led artistic interventions in public spaces and educational environments, foster citizen empowerment and aid in tackling social inequalities. Moreover, it can potentially serve as a guide for trainers, ensuring that the sustainability of education translates into meaningful policy impact.
